Why Marketplace?

  • The following story is by a McDonald’s Manager. I was working at a McDonalds Restaurant in Irving,Texas. We had a young lady (16 yrs old) working for us at that time. Her name was Arica Garcia. One night after her shift, while on her way home, she had a flat tire. A Good Samaritan happened to stop and lend assistance by putting the spare tire on the car for her. The next evening after her shift, while on her way home again the tire that the good Samaritan had put on came off the car (due to not being fastened properly). The result was a horrible accident that nearly ended this young girl’s life. She suffered life threatening injuries and as a result endured a hospital stay of over 2 months.

By early the next morning, the word of this accident spread throughout the McDonalds Family and reached the attention of our Chaplains. I had seen the Chaplains on many occasions when they visited the Restaurant and interacted with our crew. I was aware of the many services they provided. What I saw the next few days, weeks, then months was the concern and support of our chaplains. Their concern reached not only for Arica and her family but the to the whole McDonalds family by checking on the rest of the crew and giving us all support and encouragement. Since that time my respect and appreciation for the Chaplains has grown. As a Manager I see many of my crew go thru difficult problems, death of loved ones, incarcerations of family members, the list is endless. But always there are the Chaplains, with comfort, support, and prayer. They are always there in ways that as a Manager I can not be. But I am always encouraged to know that with a phone call I can bring a spiritual dimension and perspective to those around me everyday. This is only a brief testimonial to and on behalf of our chaplains and is offered from an eye witness perspective

Why Marketplace?

  • Dear Jason,

I just wanted to let you know how Marketplace Chaplains has impacted our business at Rockland Technology Group, Inc. As you may recall, I was slow to "pull the trigger" due to a number of factors, and you asked me over a year ago to take a leap of faith. I did, and here we are!

Our primary chaplain, Andy Bunn, has become a member of our team here. Even though Andy is here for just a short while each week, he has left an indelible mark on our company and our people. In the first few months with us, he had an opportunity to work with one of the employees who was getting married, one who became hospitalized, and several with other crisis in their lives. I can tell you that every person who interacts with our Marketplace Chaplain has had glowing reviews of the service that is offered. Our employees genuinely see our chaplain program as a key company benefit. In fact, I am pleased to report that we have even started a voluntary Bible study here, which Andy leads weekly.

To anyone considering using Marketplace Chaplains in their business, I can truly say that this leap of faith has proven to be a great move for me and my company. I would highly recommend Marketplace Chaplains, and would be happy to entertain a telephone conversation in this regard.

    Sincerely,

    Thomas A. Bronson

Why Marketplace?

  • An employee on the night shift came to work angry and armed with a weapon with the intent on seriously hurting someone. This situation was reported by another employee to HR who called the police as well as one of our chaplain. When the chaplain arrived at the plant, he was able to visit in private with the distraught man about the situation. He then gave him some guidance that led the employee to calm down and realize that he was about to make a big mistake. Our chaplain discerned that the employee had a serious anger problem and needed additional help. After meeting with him for several weeks about the anger, great strides were made in resolving the issue. The intervention of a chaplain on that night may have saved the life of another employee.

A chaplain had just parked his car on the company parking lot to make a visit. When he got out, he heard a woman screaming for help. He noticed that she was being physically attacked by a man who seemed out of control. Not knowing if the assailant had a weapon, our chaplain rushed to her aid and very calmly got between the two of them. When the man saw that it was one of our chaplains, he backed off and listened to what the chaplain had to say. The man and woman were husband and wife who had serious marital problems. The chaplain built a friendship with the couple and helped them put their marriage back together.

One day a chaplain got a call from an employee whose teenage son had started running with the wrong crowd and getting into a great deal of trouble. The parents were very concerned that he would end up in jail and addicted to drugs. The chaplain responded to the cry for help by sitting down with the young man and discussing the situation with him. He said that the boy's eyes were opened to some things that he had never thought about before and decided to make some lifestyle changes. He got a new set of friends, started going back to church and becoming more focused on his studies at school. The father was extremely grateful that a chaplain was there to help his son.
